Clever technology by TNO
TNO Informatie- en Communicatietechnologie and Hoogendoorn Growth Management have jointly developed the Sensiplant. The communication between Sensiplant sensors utilises a self-organising protocol patented by TNO. This ensures that sensors re-establish contact when moved. This means Sensiplant can easily be installed and expanded as 'plug and play'. The wireless network technology behind Sensiplant is a world-wide standardised technology, called Low-Rate Wireless Personal Area Network. The chips involved are so sophisticated and use so little energy that they work on battery power.
TNO Informatie- en Communicatietechnologie
TNO Informatie- en Communicatietechnologie is a unique innovation centre in the Netherlands, combining TNO’s ICT and Telecom disciplines. We help companies, authorities and (semi)-public organisations to successfully innovate with the help of ICT.
The creation of added value for the customer is the clear focus for this, and this added value consists of a combination of innovative power and profound know-how. We approach innovation from an integral and practical viewpoint. In addition to technology, we expressly consider user-friendliness, financial foundations and site processes as required. We also co-operate in implementation via technical and market pilots. Innovation strategies and innovation policies are our strength, and we offer an extensive source of ICT know-how for customised projects.
Our foundation for this is our thorough knowledge of the latest ICT and Telecom developments. Our 390 expert staff are securely grounded in the (inter)national know-how infrastructure, amongst others due to the professor, lecturer and tutor positions they hold. We are continuously updating our know-how through participation in (inter)national standardisation forums and know-how development programs, and through our co-operation with universities and academies.
Know-how also has to be practical. We therefore invest much time and energy into using and testing new technologies and concepts in our own laboratories and infrastructure.
